The SPCA-LA commissioned Kluger Architects to design a new fresh-air cattery, retail store, and grooming and boarding facilities at the existing Animal Village in Long Beach. The Village is located in El Dorado Park, an expansive parkland area in East Long Beach, near the 605 freeway.

The cattery is specifically designed
to provide the optimum environment for stray cats awaiting adoption, along with feral cats and sick animals. In the adoption area the public can interact with the animals and hopefully take a new friend home.  The well qualified staff  provides high-grade services to the local pet community; the outreach and animal welfare programs fund SPCA-LA.

A future phase includes a full service veterinary clinic offering a range of programs and care to Long Beach pets.

The design complements the existing animal cottages and main building, and acts as an interactive focal point for the Animal Village.
